I'm very happy with the recommendations I received on the forum regarding care for the exterior paintwork but the downside of all this care is that the plastic trim now looks poor by comparison

As there appears to be numerous products available I'd be grateful for recommendations as to what the best treatment is to restore/maintain the exterior black plastic parts on the car

I use autoglym plastic and rubber restorer which also brings the door rubbers up like new along with any black exterior trim.

Neither do I John on the 212 but the Ford has a lot of plastic and it certainly needs something to lift it

The main area on the 212 is the rear valance between the twin exhausts unfortunately I think it was inadvertently covered with polish which doesn't help its appearance and left it looking awful hopefully the autoglym will sort it:D

As mentioned above, many products will give an instant improvement but it rarely lasts more than a few weeks. I'd endorse Dreamer NO2's claim that Autoglym is one of the best.

This stuff provides a rather more permanent restoration but is trickier to apply. The crucial element is cleaning off all the old products that owners have tried before. Worth a try though if you're prepared to put in the work.
