Exterior lights keep flashing when parked

Can anyone help or had a similar experience? My 2003 C200k Merc as developed a problem concerning the lights. Last night the alarm went off and after resetting (opening & closing the door with the remote),and not long after, the lights started to flash periodically. It would stop after after a while. No alarm, just the flashing.

Could it be the key fob batteries need relpaceing or is it more serious / diagnostic test required?

sounds like alarm siren fault, they get water inside and play up,

yes i agree av just not long ago had to strip down ma front end and passenger wheel off for access to siren and guess wat ? water inside causin a fault a just unplugged it and removed it but not yet replaced it.............. mb want a shockin if i remember right £ 80 ..................... boo hoo
