I have a 1995 C280 (South Africa) and have had some strange electrical faults. One recently was a misfire and was quoted by the agent the equivalent of R 14,000 (1,400 pounds) to renew the electrical engine harness, due to degradation. Due to the high costs, took to a private auto elec who did it for half the price. The MB delaer was unwilling to help, despite it being a known problem, this depite a fsh. Subsequently, a similarly aged C 220 was done with full compensation from MB, for the exact same problem (Bio degradable wirring??)
Also, recently, my exterior radiator fans were running continuously, without the a/con being swithched on. Suggestions was that the viscous fan was losing its 'tightness' and the viscous fluid was renewed. Problem still persisted. The 2 switches, one being the water temperature sensor on top and the other being the a/con temp switch. with a hit and miss diagnosis, the temp switch for the a/con close to the chassis was replaced - the fans are still running at the slower speed - disconnecting the water temp switch has not helped - any other areas that would cause the fans to run, even in cold weather without the a/con being switched on?
