Don't take offence....but are you sure it's set to CENTIiGRADE? 10C = 50F or thereabouts.

Hi,
As far as i,m aware the UK W202 of this age only reads in degrees C.
If the gauge Illuminates, and pixels are ok in the digital display there is only one component left to illiminate and that is the outside sensor.
There is a possibility a w202 of that age that you will have to replace the sensor and cable to the dash the later models you could just replace the sensor.
The sensor only cost less than a tenner.
Sensor complete with lead not sure but i imagine it would only be £20-25 max.
The sensor is located in the N/S bumper, behind the small clip-on piece of lower grill.
