Hi All me again

W220 320 (2000) petrol, external temperature is reading as 5.5oC and today it's reading 6.5oC and the sun is currently splitting the trees (dublin airport is reading 12oC) is there any way to recalibrate it, or clean it or generally get it working properly (only started misbehaving yesterday).

Now one more thing, maybe I'm being paranoid but the engine temperature seems a tad high also it has been hovering just above 90-95 all day was nearly sure it used to hover just past 80 what's the normal temp for this type of car and should I check coolant and oil levels?

Advice as always greatly appreciated.

Rgds

Hi

cant help with the engine temp but the outside temp sender is prone to trouble.
Given they are about £10 from your main agent its probably worth trying before anything else

The outside temperature sensor is a known problem, they never give the correct reading and a replacement does not help. As for the engine temperature, 90 degrees is ok on a 220 model so you have nothing to worry about. Above 110 then youb can worry.

Thanks Eric, strange thing, just took her on a run to the beach and floored it on a straight bit of always empty road and it must have cleared whatever was causing the problem, now showing a healthy 14c, shoulda tried that yesterday.
