Looked round parkers, auto trader and a zillion other sites trying to find a price for my motor.
It's for sale as I want to replace it with an E class (again:rolleyes: )

2001 (51 Plate) CLK320 Avantgarde. 82,000 miles No COMMAND but plenty of other bits (including nice 2 tone leather)

All wheels need re-finishing as lacquer is peeling, but not in bad nick really.

FSH (MB 'till I got it with 60,000+ on it)

Would £9,500 seem appropriate?

This isn't an advert as it ain't for sale yet.....just need a bit of help really..

Thanks

Quick look on Autotrader suggests that is a very competitive price. I'd be inclined to list it a little higher and possibly prepared to get knocked down to £9.5k. Depends how quickly you want to sell really?

Thanks for the reply. Not really in a rush to sell as I need something, though certainly would if someone came up with the cash.

I think I've just been blinded by the many different prices out there, and need to go back to basics. Probably try it at £10,250 and see how it goes (if it goes at all) :)

Looking around now and got stuck on the CL55 section (Dream On)

The biggest snag with selling privatly is that cars bought from a MB dealer have a good guarantee, even non MB dealers have three months. Many people also know that they are complicated things.

I'm aware this could be a big problem. Especially at around 10k for a 5 year old car. I couldn't guarantee it myself (obvious reasons) and wouldn't want any hassle of it going wrong after a few weeks, especially if sold to someone I knew.

I think I may be better px'ing it even though this would mean less negotiation on something else.

Thanks for the input.....more things to think about now:(

I sold my 129 SL on Ebay got the price I wanted, and everyone knows that there is no guarantee on Ebay, its worth taking a little less, you then have the choice of buiyng the car from where you wish, the spec and colour of your choice. When buying from a Dealer you can always knock them down with no PX, must go now and have my dinner in the new car.

Actually you could.
Advertise it with 12 months warranty and if someone comes along, simply buy them an insurance backed warranty for £300-£400 - that's all they'll get from most (non dealer) forecourts anyway.

You're still going to end up with more than the trade price the dealer will give you. Provided you're selling at less than the forecourt price, the buyer is already getting a better deal which is why they are prepared to take the chance in the first place. Throw in 12 months warranty and there really is no difference.
Worth a shot anyway.
