I recently took my ML into a "specialist" MB independent workshop (came highly recommended ex. MB mechanics etc. etc.) for new rear disks and brake pads. Apparently this is normal! As my local dealer charges £130 an hour for labour, I thought £45 was a better option!! However, on picking up the car I noticed extensive scratch marks on the top of the steering wheel (the dark walnut bit) where clearly someone with oily hands with grit had been driving the car. Obviously this was immediately denied by the garage staff. Not being bothered to argue something I knew but couldn't prove, does anyone know the best way to polish the cratch marks out?

Infuriated ML55 owner.:mad::mad::mad:

Grit wouldn't do that. Lots of sovereign rings would though.

I'd start googling 'French polish DIY'.

agreed - I'd look for a french polisher. Damn anoying though there are plenty of stories of similar issues with dealers. Sadly you entrust your car to any garage and just hope they don't damage it.
