Hi,

A couple of days back I started a thread because I thought my fan clutch was not working. I've now come to find that it works just fine, but never engages unless the A/C is in use. When the A/C is in use, the clutch engages and the electric fan also starts at the same time. They seem to cycle on and off together every 20-30 seconds.

But when the A/C is off, the fan clutch never engages and the electric fan seems to take over and do all the work when the temp reaches a little over 100. I imagine this is why my car seems to run hotter in the winter - because I'm not using the A/C.

Does this seem like a sensor problem? And if so, which one?

Thanks,
Mike

I was under the impression that it was the opposite.

I thought the electric fan only came on when air-con was in use.

In traffic, the thermostat is set to engage the fan at about 102 degrees, and disingage at around 80.
