What would you have in yours (in the way of tools and machines of course) outside of the usual spanners?
Happens when I'm about to move house and think, next time this is what it will be like and now with a few more weeks of thinking time it's more drastic.
Outside a wash bay, power washer and a ramp just high enough to wash below the car.
Inside, heated parts washer and another ultrasonic.
A two post lift, transmission jack and engine hoist.
MIG, TIG and plasma cutter.
Small lathe, milling machine, hydraulic pipe bender, metal chop saw, sheet metal brake.
3D printer, CNC plasma cutting table.
STAR of course with another multi mark scanner, oscilloscope.
Bodywork preparation area with spray booth.
Rest area for tea/coffee, ablutions.

I'd like a lathe, grinding wheels, heavy duty drill press, milling machine, 4 post lift (requires less work to get floor strong enough), underfloor heating for working in the winter, a sealed humidity controlled storage area (for keeping the 129 and 230 in winter), engine hoist (can also be used to lift the hardtop on and off the 229), gearbox hoist, wheel balancing machine and tyre fitting machine, 3d printer (and maybe a 3d metal printing machine). Of course arc and mig and tig welding equipment and gas welding/brazing set.
I have the space and 3 phase power for it just need the money to buy it all! Already have an in for a lift perhaps....

I was thinking of yours Andy when I put mine together. :)
You can replace the shift lock bit with metal - either make your own or a kit from eBay.

understood ,was just thinking on that as an example of 3d printer use. i will research them , i suspect, like normal printers ,the consumables will turn out the culprit in cost terms .

anyone recommend something ?

I don't think they're too bad for consumables. I'd like one for the NLA plastic parts on the 129. Sunvisor mirror flaps for example.

I got the wrong end of the stick with the fantasy garage.. So far I had got to Scarlett Johansson in rubber gloves, wellies and a bikini with a foaming sponge in her hand and a glint in her eye asking where she should start first....

Yes, I know it should be a wash mitt not a sponge for the purists out there....

i just see a 3d printer for $400 that, for the money seems fairly capable

still looks like 1500£ ! to scan an object and then 3d print it. that might have to wait...

if i twas 30 ish i would have bought, wheel balancer, tyre fitting machine, however at 62 i doubt if i would now get great value from these bits of kit . also my inclination to be grafting away on vehicles is wearing off unless 1 warm,2. have ease of access.

Oh, come on only 62 you have a few more tyres to burn off yet;) and it's just a fantasy:rolleyes:
I'd have that and a laser alignment as well:):)
At my age I've even learned how to use emojis.
Have LK's heated garage and you already have a lift.

workshop is heated ,lathe and mill ,cut off saw band saw mig tig arc gas god knows how much tooling m/cycle bench so all good but a bit strangled by industries scheme to keep us all spending so much stuff sealed and even if one gets inside often no way to get separate bits to effect a repair. i have boxes of stuff i would prefer to repair ,but cant get bits for.i dont throw anything away in case i need bits from it at some point .and the thing i hate worst is not being able to locate the exact problem. normally when electronics involved.i recently spent three weeks trying to repair a roller blind motor that would just pack up and then work again . changed capacitor and electronic relays and no change suspect pcb .cant get it ..150 euro replacement after 2 yr ..

I would add a perpetually licensed Developer's version with OM's of Star/Xentry diagnostics!
