Fault code EOBD diagnostic s/w and scanner

Hi ,

I was searching the web for mercedes fault code scanner/ software and was directed to a software site in states .There guys were extremely helpful .They use the OBD11 spec and say it is specific to where the car is sold ,and asked for a sample of the fault codes for my car as shown by the irish merc dealer - ( foramt = 2029 - 001 .)They say these are EOBD standard and therefore will need to source locally in europe.

As I have ongoing check light problem on car , spent 2k already via merc dealers to fix ( they have no idea how to identify the problem rather than replace part after part until they find the smoking gun !) , had two more merc delaers look at it , one says it will cost 3k , another says ignore it so what does that tell me - icould fork out another 3k - for what!! in the end as I am an electronics engineer , I will try an diagnose myself but need to buy the s.w to plug into lap top etc.

Also I saw a thread on wiper squirt , I have this minor propblem also and it takes exactly 3 squirts to activate - has anyone actually diagnosed this fault.

As a petrol car, that should be an EOBDII.

Search for GENDAN.

They supply many makes of reader which should be suitable for your car.
