Good morning
Just a quickie - If a brake pad sensor triggers a warning does it throw up a fault code that needs clearing once the pads have been replaced? (W204 C-Class, 2008).

It just shows a warning on the dash that the pads need looking at (there'll probably be a good few hundred miles left). New pads & sensor will then stop the warning from appearing. ;)

No. A new sensor fitted will reset the light.

so will removing it ;)

It appears that Mercs sensors ground/earth onto the disc like Ford did in the days of FWD Escorts so removal of the sensor prevents the warning. My Vauxhalls though used a sensor that went open circuit when worn through so shorting the two wires also prevented the warning.
Obviously the condition of the pads & discs need looking at (like in the olden days) before you by-pass the sensor. ;)

Thank you EmilysDad. I have already replaced all the pads but I'm still getting the low pad warning, hence the question! I didn't replace the sensors, though, so that appears to be my problem now. Hey ho! I'll pick some new ones up on Monday.

You’ve answered your own question.

You need a new sensor

Only way to get a mb light off is to leave the sensor plugged in and join the 2 wires together.

My mistake then .... on my last car cancelling the message only worked until the next pedal press so I assumed they earthed on the disc. The message would cancel for the duration of the journey.
