Hi folks
Ive got a problem on my SLK320 170 type...The car is an 51plate 2002 build..

ON the dashboard i have a orange engine diagnostic indicator thats lit up...

This happened shortly after a bit of spirited driving.

Now aparently its something to do with ,, either the injection system,
ingnition ,
or the exhaust system.. or so the manual tells me.

The car now also runs slightly differently, ie,, its as if ive got turbo lag when i press the throttle pedal...

Is there anything on the car that it prone to going faulty that could cause this "malfunction".????

I realise it would be easy to take it to the dealer + have them plug in there laptop...But thats going to cost...££££££££££££££

Hope somebody can help.??

A fault has been logged so I would recommend having it read. If you post up your location then members can recommend an Independant MB specialist in your area if you don't wish to have MB read the codes.
Who are you currently using for servicing?

Normally the MAF filter could cause this, try and unplug it,the engine is probably in the limp home mode, there again you may have a turbo problem, try the MAF first see what happens.

Hi Chaps
Well i think ive found the offending item...
The MAF unit...

I took the car to a trade collegue today who happened to have a new toy,, a code reader....:) :)
He wanted to "have a play" so did some digging around + found that the MAF code had sprung up...
He reset the codes , only for the warning light to come straight back on ...

So when i got home i removed the offending item....I then thought ide try + start the car without the MAF either connectd or fitted to the car...low + behold the car started + ran exactly the same ,, obviuosly in a "limp home mode"...
I personally thought it wouldnt have started....

Anyway i called Merc Blackpool, my local dealer,, to be told it was £230 +vat ish...
I then called Euro car parts Preston,,[ VERY helpfull chaps] + its £170 + vat, getting better...+ theyve got one in stock....
Aparently the MAF units on the 320 series are failing at about 2-3 / week...Thats how many there selling....
I always thought these items would last the life of the car....

Anyway ill soon see if it fixes my problems......lets hope so...
