Does anyone have a magic wand to open my boot please? It was locked by central locking and will not re-open. I have tried a key and that only pushed the button in and even this won't now release. When I lock or unlock the driver's door there is a noise from the boot lock area which sounds like it is trying to work - only it doesn't! Any ideas would be appreciated please 'cos my spare wheel is obviously unobtainable..........

WD40 sprayed in. Leave overnight and reapply. Then the key.

After you open it you can check out whether its a leaking vacuum pipe or just a seized mechanism. I suspect the latter.

boot lock

Make sure the car is unlocked with remote, insert key and turn fully anti clock wise hold it there and press in and the boot should unlock,if it does then as Pascal says, one of the vacuam pipes has come off. Malcolm

Thank you Pascal, I have tried your suggestion, still no luck. I have now been able to release the press-button and when I turn the key it sounds as though it is locking and unlocking from there but wont release the catch - I think as you say, it is a faulty mechanism and looks like a trip to the garage for a new lock assembly.

Thank you Malcolm, I also tried your suggestion, still no luck, it tries to open but is not releasing the catch - looks like a new lock assembly will be needed but there is still the problem of getting the old one off first! it looks like a trip to the garage and another bill ......
I do appreciate your advice.

something else to try

Had a talk with a friend who had the same problem, make sure that the lock is not turned fully clockwise, go around the car unlocking the door's one by one, keep trying the boot on key remote and it will open after some time.
Do you have a switch below radio to open boot.

I have solved the problem of my locked boot - we drilled out the lock barrel and after removal found that the vacuum unit had a small leak and a piece of plastic on the end of the rod that pushes the catch open, had broken. I can now push the catch by accessing it through the key-barrel hole with my finger (just until I replace the lock!)
Thank you all for your interest. Purdie
