 Can anybody help? I thought Mercedes were reliable. I bought the car at 48000. Always fully serviced. I had a coil fail at 76000. And now at 82000 the other two have failed. Is this a known problem or is it specific to something else being wrong on my car? These coils don't seem to be regularly stocked which suggests they don't fail often. And they cost £42 each! Should I carry spares!!!

Thanks for your contribution Andy. But I can't see that the earthing can be a problem since the coils are bolted directly to the cylinder head.

Failed Ignition Coils on E320

Here we go again. Since I first posted a problem one or more of the coils has failed on three separate occasions, separated each time by about 7000 miles. Last time the garage replaced them free of charge but nobody knows why they are failing. Any more ideas out there? Apparantly these Bosch coils are available from only one source in the UK.
