faulty oddometer

i have removed the oddometer from my 92 sL because it stopped working all the cogs appear to be intact and working correctly does anyone know if the motors are suspect and is there any way of testing them whilst out of the car while ive got the unit out the backlight on the outside temp guage doesnt work the lamp is soldered on to the pcb does anyone know what wattage this lamp should be thanks mark
