Feeble horn - why no twin-tone?

About my only disappoinment with my W209 CLK is the horn. It's a single tone "peep peep", more fitting to a Fiat Panda than a Mercedes Benz.
Ahh, I thought, one of the horns is disconnected or isn't working!!
However, I've looked all around the front of the car and can't find a second one anywhere.
In front of the radiator, directly behind the grille, is a steel bracket - purpose made to carry just the one horn, which is there and working.
I've looked everywhere and can't find a second, or any sign of wiring from the first to a hidden second. If there is a second horn, it's well hidden!!!
Anyone know if my 2004 CLK has one or two???

One hooter on 2004 CLK 270CDI and majestic with it. It's marked FAMM or something like that. The note is not 'peep peep', more of a trumpet sound.

Yes, a fanfare is what I was expecting, but don't get.
I understand there is a second horn buried somewhere behind a headlamp. I'll have a look at lunchtime. Hopefully, it'll be just a loose or disconnected connector....

SORRY Doug and Television (succinctly put as always Malcolm).
There is an obvious horn located right behind (atop almost) the offside headlight, -this is the one that I saw- and another, same style, right behind the grill in the middle.

Horns can get water inside, the life is not that good these days

I used to love the days of the old air horns and twin windtones where you could adjust the pitch

The nasty buzz buzz type horn has been found to be more noticable to those who should hear its signal and so the EU recomends this type of sounder as first choice, MB want their cars to be the best so the best for purpose horn is fitted, unfortunatly its a pair of high frequency peep peep jobs.

Yes David, I was looking too hard - it was right where you said, looking up at me all the time whilst I was peeping through all the little gaps around the lights and radiator.
The behind headlamp one is u/s. Tonight I'll check the power to it with my trusty Avo meter. It looks perfect, but I imagine, as Malcolm has suggested that water has probably got inside - maybe it was power-washed by the dealer and this unit is actually installed with the trumpet pointing upwards. Assuming the horn's shot, I'll pick up a new one on Friday when I collect my new key and mats. (I'll point this one downwards).
Missus Doug, ever the wag, has suggested that there should be a credit card reader slot built into the dashboard, so MB can take all our money without all the messing about with paperwork and pin numbers.
Her perfect Christmas present though would be a second horn button - one on the passenger side just for her!
She'd be in heaven, beeping at all the "idiots" and "slow coaches" ..... safe herself - but leaving me on the thumpable driver's side !!!

Both mine are pointing down. You will presumably have to make it clear to the dealer which one you want, 'cos they look the same. Don't want you to have double strength 'peep peep'.

Fixed...

Is it safe to start again? I knew talk of "horns" would get some folk rather animated!!!!!:D
Tested the power supply - okay so I took the "low tone" non-working horn to my bench to see if it'd come apart. No such luck, but since it was shot anyway, I thought, what the hell, and sprayed WD40 up it's trumpet (ooh, matron !!!) and gave it a couple of taps with a hammer and worked the adjuster screw a bit....
Success, I powered it up with my battery charger and it works. A bit of adjustment on said screw and it now works perfectly.
A strident blast awaits anyone who gets in my way tomorrow!!!!

So pleased doug that its fixed, we do get carried aways sometimes, it can get very boring just doing high tech stuff all day,

Can you mount the horn in a way to stop water ingress

A point for future reference.
MB horns cost about £35 each. It's far cheaper and just as effective to use an aftermarket one in this case. You'll probably find that in a majority of cases they'll be produced by the same manufacturer, just missing the MB logo.

Indeed why not, or a horn from a breaker for a £5
