My '95 5 series BM had a proper manly horn but the CLK's horn is - how do I say this - a bit limp.

What mercedes has a good deep 'what do you think you are doing' or 'how would you like to get out of my way' sounding horn?

Jeremy Clarkson's MB Grosser (sp) had a magnificent horn!

You could change the horns for any others that you like, I never blow mine, I do not even know if it works

My ML in the damp sounded like a limp dying julian clary and i would be too embarrassed to use it, looking underneath the horn had no protection from the elements and i had to be carefull when to use it to save the brass neck.

Hi,

the CLK's horn is - how do I say this - a bit limp.

What mercedes has a good deep 'what do you think you are doing' or 'how would you like to get out of my way' sounding horn?
Funnily enough, this was one of the first things I mentioned on the Forum after I joined. My W124 had twin (high- and low-tone) horns capable of making the hoi polloi jump even when they were listening to iPods or thump-thump; otoh, the W210 has just a single 'limp' horn, and it has it's own special recess in the radiator, so no easy chance of simply bolting in a pair. :( I know MB's cost-cutting between the W124 and the W210 is legendary, but a £5 (bulk discount) horn on a five-figures-new car ...?

Discussed this just a few days ago with another forum member about the horns in my C-class. I even brought it up with MB when it was under warranty, who could only reply that both units (high & low) were working. I already knew that, it was just that they were relatively quiet compared to the Mondeo I had previously.

Have a set of air horns in a cupboard and a seperate cannister horn. Been thinking for years that I should link the three for the old triple air horn "Italian shreek in the passes" .

Don't suppose it will get done as the S320 horns are OK, reminiscent of the Rover 75 of yore which had a goodly set of horns - looked like snails. Sold a pair on ebay for ten quid a while back.

I new a guy whose Granada had a set of Police horns which certainly turned heads and at night, no one could figure where the Police Car had gone. Used to give a blast when parking at the Pub! Got the drinkers thinking!
