Finding a Nokia car kit HFU-2 in W210

Hi guys,
I've read many of the recent posts about car kits etc. I've got a CARK-91 in my W210 and I'm looking to upgrade to something else.
Anyway I'm trying to locate the controller box which I believe is a HFU-2 unit and I cant for the life of me find it !
The cradle is mounted left of the radio - normal spot, on a nice add-on mounting block. I've dropped the panels under the glove box and on the RHS of the passenger footwell. Traced the cables, two going across, just under glovebox, towards passenger door (probably mic and antenna, mic is recessed in interior lights). Larger cables (likely power, signaling) are going forward and the last I can see of them is between the bulkhead and aerofoam insulation under the floor trim.
Any ideas where these things should be typically located ?

The cradle and the loudspeaker plug into it,its at the end of the leads.

As Malcolm says, there is no alternative to just following the wires. I sounds like it's been stuffed up above the glove box. Normally it's just sitting on top of the passenger kick panel though.
