Hi folks, picked up 17 plate B class yesterday.
Temp gauge was running normal about 80-90 after two hours flicked up to 120 and then flicking back to 100-120.
RAC came out and read codes
P13c2
P267f
C25D
Can anyone advise what the issue could be?

Thanks
Ian.

You can normally google the codes and get an idea.
What did the RAC person say and do.
Was your problem only the jumping temperature to call the RAC.

First step. Go back to the seller.
Seconnd get aquainted with a good MB independent.

Yeah been on the phone to them and got emails confirming to book it into local garage for diagnosis. My local garage is MB Aberdeen so o should find out later this week. Then update on the result.

Some of those codes could have been historic.
Clear them and see what returns after a short run.

What happened after the RAC read the codes, did you continue your journey?

If bought from a trader (not private) the trader should sort this. At least under English law. You shouldn't have to lay to get this sorted..Good luck

outside temp issues can be a by-product of the diesel emissions scam

Mercedes and GM both used fake ambient temp information to fool the car in to running an enriched cold engine map (aka an illegal drive nicely emission fiddle). Whereas VW did a much better fix, the cars steering wheel isn't moving thus we can be driving only in the emission testing lab, now run the legal undrivable map.

With the other points raised by LostKiwi, I would suggest the car is correctly updated to the current software and any sensors NOx DPF etc. are fitted. it would be unfair to expect a secondhand dealer to know of and or have equipment to convert a Mercedes to the product the manufacturer should have legally released first time round

Hi all just to update. Got home after RAC disconnected the sensor and confirmed safe to drive home.
Booked into merc on the 17th and also to get recalls done!!!
There is indications of a slight coolant leak around the water temperature sensor.
Does anyone know if the Mercedes me obd tool is any use? Was wondering if that would pick up any faults also.

Good result. Similar happened to Mrs D with her CLK the other week. Dramatic off the scale temp gauge readings and overheat please stop messages. I self recovered the few miles home and a few days later put in a £15 Mercedes OE temp sender and all was well.
