I have just had a major service done & was lucky enough to find a MB trained specialist mechanic in my local area.
After reading the posts regarding Transmission servicing ,I felt that it would be a good idea, also I required A full inspection so I could tranfer the Queensland rego to NSW ( where I live )
Service performed was:-
2 disc rotors & 2 sets of pads & sensors
2 lower control arm bush kits
2 ball joints
Full transmission service (MB oil & filter & gasket)
MB sheduled service of all required systems (coolant, brake fluid etc etc )
Wheel alignment
MB scanner & code checking & clearing ( none there now ! )
Engine lube service & filter
Replaced all dash globes (a lot were faulty )
Full Inspection for Registration
cost $2000 AU
Seems like a lot ,a Holden (Vauxhall) would be half the cost , but the Merc will do more than 3x the distance,so it makes good sense in the end
The Mechanic advised me the secret to keeping the MB trouble free is regular servicing (good advise methinks) & had been done regularly before (PHEW ! )
So In the end I am happy

At today's rate that would be a UK bill of £975. I think UK Forum members would be delighted to get all of that work done for that price.

I bet it now runs like a new car. What mileage has this 12 year old car done please?

Hard to say as the odometer is not functioning 200k -300k would be a good estimate
( end of the road for a Vauxhall ) middle aged for a MB :)
It drives fantastic ,11 hour drive to get it home ,told my son ( passenger )," wake me up when we go another 300ks "
Cheers
