Hi guys,

My first post, and I`m after a few answers if thats ok.

I have just bought a 2000 Vito 108cdi with the intention of using it for my race bikes and work. Until now its been great, pulls like a train and looks the business.

Last week I removed the pollen filter and have not driven it until yesterday. It seems its gone into the dreaded "limp mode". It has no problems starting, it turns first time. Could I have knocked the clutch switch sensor and would this put it into limp mode?

It has just been serviced, with new oil, air and fuel filter.

Today I had it connected to a diagnostic machine, and it showed no stored faults. I then went to a local Merc specialist who after looking under the bonnet, he noticed the air tube from the air box was loose. He also said the Maf sensor was missing on the piece that goes into the airbox.

Since coming home, I have looked at pictures of the engine bay of a couple 108cdi`s and it appears there isnt a Maf sensor on any of the pictures. Is it somewhere else or am I just missing it?

Any help on this issue would be great as its driving me mad.

Many, many thanks in advance.

If you have knocked or distrubed the clutch switch and it isnt working then it wont rev above 3000 as not to damage the engine and doesnt know that you have depressed the clutch.

I think the cdi in the vito doesnt have a air mass sensor but works of the readings from the pressure sensor which is connected on to top left corner of the air box/intake manifold.

Make sure that is connected correctly, as are all the over vacum pipe connections.

Thats great, I will check that clutch switch today.

As for the air mass sensor, looking at mine, there is nothing on the air tube that connects to the airbox. This is where the MB "specialist" said it would be. I`m sure he is right, but not on the 108 CDi as I have looked at loads of others, and they dont have one either.

The pressure sensor then eh? I will have a mooch about for this today then.

Many, many thanks for trying to shed some light on this frustrating problem.
