First post - C200 1996 [w202] wiper arm

HELP!
Whenever I use the wiper [single in middle] the arm extends until the wiper is battering the bodywork.

I can manually pull and push the arm to extend and close it.

What can I do? I cant use the car when it rains; and being that I live in Milton Keynes - I need the car!

Thanks for the quick response.

I didnt realise my wiper arm actually extended until now [noob! ].

So it sounds like a gearbox problem then?
