hi guys, i had a new toque converter fitted about 1 month ago and since then when i put the car into drive or reverse the revs drop to about 400 and the car then stalls, this only happens on startup on a morning (seems to be when its cold outside) then when i have run the engine for about 1 min or so everything is ok.

had it down to mb no faults shown on comp,

i think it something to do with torque converter??

any ideas ??

thanks

The forums a little quite at the mo, probably all tanked up with the football :D

Do you have the type of car, engine, age, mileage? Any and all info will help. Could just be your idle settings need adjusting, or your glow-plugs are shot, depending on what car you have.

A few questions
1) what is the model and age of the car
2) How does it idle in P when cold?
3) When switching from P to R/D at this time, is the shift smooth or violent?
4) Is there any difference in the shift between cold (low revs) and warm?

I'm erring towards something on the cold start/ idle control side of things rather than the torque converter.

the car is a c220 cdi with 37k on the clock, the fault only occurs when the car has been stood for somtime, seems to be more when its cold outside.....

when i have got it to be ok (started the car twice) everything is ok.

starting the car on a morning is fine, its when i put it into drive that the revs drop to around 400, then when trying to turn the wheel the engine drops even further then stalls.

can i also add that this fault is not happening all the time.

thanks.
