By way of introduction, just bought myself a c class 250 cdi amg coupe auto, 2015 50000mls, full service history. Is there anything i should be looking for in regards to general maintenance and running. Looking forward to any advice, many thanks.

Hi and welcome.

Turn off the stop start as soon as you get in each time and worth doing interim oil changes in order to prolong the life of the timing chain. Try not to use it for too many short runs - 20+ mile run once a week should help.

enjoy the car.

Many thanks for your welcomes, Mark A is there a reason for turning off the stop/start and would you just recommend just not using it at all

Have a search on here for OM651 timing chain. Some people seem to think that premature failure of the timing chain is related to the extra strain put on the chain by constantly stopping and starting the engine. The problems seem to be more common with lower mileage cars with lots of town driving where stop start is designed to work.

I personally switch off SS every time I get in the car and change oil every 8K. You can get the oil from MB in 20 L drums for about £60, so it would be rude not to.

I think you will find that most of us on here turn the stop/start off as soon as we get in the car. All stop/start does is put extra strain on the timing chain, you keep starting the car when all of the hot oil has drained off the bores for instance, you put extra wear on the starter motor and unnecessary drain on the battery and absolutely no savings in fuel usage as the car needs extra fuel each time it starts. All in all stop/start has no positives at all :(

Welcome, not sure if you have the 7 or 9 speed auto box? If you have the 7 speed it need an oil change every 37,500 miles. Quite a few are missed. The 9 speed oil change is due at about 70,000 miles.
