Hi all, just joined this forum recently as I became the lucky owner of a mercedes finally...

We brought the car back in may last year(06) and its been great, total different expirence. its a E200 Kompressor on a X 2001 plate, to this date its done about 32,000 miles.

Just recently a message comes up on the dash/diplay saying service B in 5 days. I rang mercedes and they said between £500 - 600. Ive heard people getting better deals from independants.

The best so far was £135 for labour alone. Does anybody have an idea on how much the parts would cost?

Also when it comes to retaining warranty and a full service history does it have to be a mercedes stamp on the service book. i know that the dealer has to be mercedes approved right.

im totally new to all this, be great if someone could shed some light onthe matter.

Cheers guys.

lots of post on this already. Basically it has to be a dealer to retain the Mobilio and corrosion warranties. Whether they are worth the extra expense is up to you. On a 2001 E class they may be. That said £500 is a bit steep, even for a B service. I didn't pay that on an E240.
The B service is basically an oil change, air filter and poss pollen filter change plus a thorough check over so parts are minimal, especially if you supply your own oil.
An indie will be around 50% of the cost of the dealer so around £250.

Cheers for that mate. So the guy asking for £135 for labour alone which i think is resonable, i dont think we'll sell the car anytime soon, its our first merc... but want to look after it and maintain it. how much appox would i be looking at parts?
