Hi Marddyy

I had the same sort of problem with my SLK recently. You get a build up of bacteria in the aircon system due to all the moisture which needs to be killed off. Do a search for "Comma air con cleaner" on ebay, which is a canister you set off in the car, which kills all the bacteria.

It sorted the problem out on mine, there is a similar product by Wynns as well, although I couldn't find that anywhere. I'd only go to the dealers as a last resort, you'll get screwed good and proper.

Guy.

The Comma product works very well. You can get it from Halfords for about £11. The Landrover dealership used it on our Discovery at the last service and charged £40 for the privilege! The process takes about 10 minutes.

You would have been embarassed if the mechanic showed you your wifes knickers, when you went to pick up your landrover so he had the pleasure of taking your money and keeping the knickers.

Try the pollon filter as spike says it might be damp and that will cause a smell . Remove it and run car without it for a short period see if smell goes away if it does fit a new one.
