S 320 CDI 2001 ..220026 Fed up with the cold shivery starts and the endless miles of no heat coming from the Heater... so have just got a new thermostat, was about to fit it and noticed a pipe from the bottom of it down into the oil filter housing..this seems to be a push fit, ie no visible means of support .. is this correct.. cant see how it will reseal..

yes it is just push fit, make sure it is thoroughly clean and greased before refitting though

Many thanks lads for your replies, I will let you know if the thermals become redundant.. funny tho euro car list two temps 87 & 92 degrees and according to them genuine MB parts, whilst MB only list one, the 87deg, price same from both £32

New stat fitted and joy of joys, heat within minutes of starting from cold, tho I did run it in the shop for a while to check for leaks, but a quick run and the temp was at 80deg, in no time at all, a big change from the 5 or 6 mile drive to get 60 deg.. and a bit fiddly with all the pipes and things..to fit.. + I did remove the oil filter which made it that little bit simpler.. so thanks again lads..
