To check if you have a compatible player, press CDC and see if it switches to AUX IN on the display. It wont work until you install the cable but at least you know it has the capability.

Cable costs 15.25+VAT for MB direct. Should be the same at dealers I guess.

I quoted the above but dod't know if everything was in the same place on a RHD car.

Eg are things on the glovebox side always or on the right always?

Am told by MB that my car will be supplied with an AUX IN connection in the glovebox.
