Fitting New ECU

Hi,

I have had a problem with my CLK230 (W208.347) for the past 16 months and have been unable to have it sorted.

Basically my kompressor clutch was not engaging so my Indie replaced clutch @ €400 and no joy. Then looked at ECU but came up with nothing...

Fault comes up with Compressor CLutch fault.

Having carried out a bit of investigative work on the website here and it looks like I have a faulty ECU missing the signal to ground the clutch on the kompressor..

Basically I could sent the ECU away to be repaired but this could take a week to 10 days to get back to me. This would cost about £200 and I cannot be without the car for that long. I can buy a new ECU from www.euromerc.co.uk for £400.

Now the question is, how easy/difficult is it to remove the old ecu and install the new one and is it just a matter of plug and play and all is good after that?? or is there some set-up required after the new install.

Thanks,

Mike.

The car should work by just changing the ECU, but the SAM may not know that its there, and take a little driving time to find it, most have to be activated on STAR and the faulty code removed at the same time

Deos this mean that I can just plug and play the new one and it will work or will I most likely need a trip to the local indie as well?

Is the ecu easy to remove and replace?

Thanks,

Mike.

I must confess that I know very little about turbos, and I never answer these post.

ECUs in general when replacing, disconnect the battery, then unplug the faulty one, fit new one and re connect battery, the SAM will find the turbo eventually but it will need to be plugged into STAR, so that the SAM knows that it has one.

I cant even find this ECU,I have looked
