Fitting new Serpentine belt

What sort of job is it to fit a new serpentine belt, on my 2000 model E320CDI? do you have to remove radiator etc? many thanks Dave

If you have small hands you can do it insitu without removing the radiator. Buy a genuine MB belt

My belt is very noisy as well, how is the belt tensioned?

This is quite an easy job, I did mine a couple of weeks ago.

There are threads on here on how to do it, from memory I did the following:

Draw a picture of how the belt goes. or get the picture from the Russian Detali site.

Remove the fan cowling, you may need to remove the top radiator mounts to do this to give you more room. Its a fiddle but it will come out.

Use a 16 or 17 mm socket on the tensioner pulley to release the tension and slip the belt off. Its spring loaded and self tensioning, move it to the left.

Put the belt on, again move the tensioner to the left and slip the belt on.
