I am purchasing an 04 SL500. The car doesn'y have parktronic fitted.
I want to get this fitted after purchase.
I have asked my dealer to do it before collection-he is not keen, and he has quoted around £700 to do it.
Any ideas from anyone a cheaper/better way to do this?
I am happy for front and rear audible only

Thanks

You could probably get rear only for cheaper (MB ParkEasy)

But for front and rear (genuine MB parts) it will be way more expensive. Braybrooks quote around £1800 IIRC

There are numerous after-market kit available, I personally would not spoil a very nice car with non- MB parts

There is no audioable only as a retro and for the rest as whitenemesis.

That was a good dealer price if it was foe the MB retro

Hello,

Although I agree parking sensors a good option and have fitted them on my ML on the SL I doubt rear ones are needed? the backs just their...

Agree front as the bonnet is long and low, I'm 6ft 2 and it slopes away so difficult to judge. THey are handy and have to say being use to them in other cars you do miss them...

If its simply to 'update' the look then that fine.

I thought there was a system that now uses a strip that could fit behind the bumper so no drilling or visable signs of the sensor?

I would think that if someones spending a grand or whatever it is having these fitted, then you would at least want some visible sign to the outside world that you have spent this extra money........

Verytalldave,

Doesn't one of the new options on merc have just such an option where you don't see the sensors.

Paying over a £1000 is simply silly, I fitted these to my car for less than £30 others have done similar and look almost factory.

Even small cheap new cars have these as standard so hardly a luxury option nowadays?
