is it possible to fit wheels with a slightly different pcd,say vauxhall wheels with a pcd of 5x110 to a merc with 5x112 as its pretty close? if so what are the effects/problems likely to occur?

dont do it!

just think this through a minute.... what stops the wheel bolts coming loose?

the friction between the bolt, and the bolt hole!, now, if the hole centres are wrong, then the two faces will not contact properly, so will work loose over time.
not a nice thing to happen!
BTW .... NEVER use genuine bolts with pattern wheels, or visaversa.... the angle of the contact faces, in my experence are not always the same, which will give the same problem of bolts working loose.
if you think about it, it only needs a difference of a few degrees for the faces to only contact by a fraction of the design area
at the end of the day... i like living... so i wont risk things like that... why should you??

You would be literally gambling with your life marshie001 (and others of course). Even if you WERE able to 'force' the studs through the holes in the wheel the uneven stresses set up around the wheelstud holes would be enormous, with eventual cracking inevitably occurring! PLEASE don't even think about taking chances with your wheels, of all things!

In years gone by I have attended many horrendous road accidents caused by caravans becoming detached from their towing vehicles. The cause of these? - The old-fashioned British 2-inch caravan hitch being slotted onto a modern 50mm towball - because it was thought they were "near enough"! Similar scenario here.

you can get pcd adjustment bolts designed to take up small differences like this.

however, I'm not sure how legal they are in the UK

I didn't know that Andy and find it hard to believe such things are available!

However, I 'rest my case'. The rest is now up to the jury.

They are indeed available but I certainly wouldn't use them.

Some things just aren't worth taking a chance with - wheel fitment is one of them :)
