Hey all,

Without getting into details. It looks like my mirrors had a bang by someone. I can’t prove who it was on when it was as my cars been recovered so many times lol

Anyway, I saw the drivers mirror moving around and have noticed that many black mirror clips have broken off. These are the clips that clip the glass to the mirror motor... seem to break all the time.

Rather than pay stupid money for a new mirror, has anyone had any luck in fixing these clips before? It’s a perfectly good mirror, just these black clips. Some still remain but most broken.

I have a friend with a 3D printer and pretty nifty on CAD. So, possibly thinking of designing something that I can glue on which will re engage the ‘clip’. Thought I’d ask about though as it’s probably been done before.

Because they’re under tension and have to move to clip on you’ll struggle to fix with glue.
You could just glue it on with CT1 but it will be a PITA to remove if you do...

Still around £100. I know it doesn’t sound much, but I can’t get over replacing this perfectly working mirror for a few plastic clips. Think I’m going to get on the CAD and 3D print it.

The reason they are expensive is because the mirror is heated, auto dimming and has blind spot assit. The plastic is welded to the mirror.

Would be interested to see how you get on with the 3D printing and if the plastic you use is up to temp fluctuations and vibrations.

Good look and let us know how you get on.

Just glue it in place with Sikaflex .... with a bit of luck it won't need looking at while you own the car :rolleyes:;)
A SOG* issue in other words. I like it!
