I'm hoping this is some quirky MB warning, which I don't understand.....but
When you open the front doors on my W124 the interior light and the seatbelt light flash on and off in sequence, int / seat / int / seat..etc.
The sequence is like this>>
Open door....both flash
Sit down....both flash
Close door....both flash
Switch on ignition....only seatbelt flashes
Ign on, Put on belt....none flash
Open door, belt on, .....both flash
Close door, belt on,..... both flash for a few seconds, int goes out, belt flashes a few more seconds then goes out.

This carries on even if you get out ,close and lock the door, until the timer switches the light off
It seems the door and seatbelt switches are working, as they have an effect, it even happens if the passenger opens the door , but flashes on the driver side.
I just cannot see why the interior light is connected to the seatbelt warning flasher unit?

Dealership girl just tried to book it in, no chance of any help.
Any ideas anyone?
Lucky I'm not eppileptic!

Hate to contradict, but the build sheet for mine is RHD, and was supplied as a special order to a main dealer, I think it was their demo for a short time.
However, I'll check out the relay. What I cannot get my head round is how the interior light is connected to the relay for the seat belts????
Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

int light

think about it you open the door the seat belt wants you to belt up there linked up to save money as to left hand drive what side is your bonnet release look at a newer car youl find it on the right so your car was converted at the factory the relays are reversed try opening the door then close it but dont get in the seat watch from outside it dosent know your not there fickle or what

Try this on for size!!
Could be there is a bad earth connection in the light switch or saet belt wiring. As they are closely interconnected, maybe one is stealing the earth connection from the other. You see this on some cars when the indicator light is flashing and the rear lights alternately brighten and dim in unison with the flasher unit.
Check all earth connections, especially door switches.
