hi guys
Always check under the bonnet before leaving MB garage. I did and was annoyed to find the "technician" had broken the bonnet release lever.
The red faced mech huffed and puffed under the dash, the bonnet popped up, and he announced he had fixed it. We both knew he had pliered the cable.
I had other issues too, so had words with the service manager, who agreed to supply a free new lever for me to fit. (5 min job)
Then I came to musing that I could fix the broken lever better than the crappy MB design
Here's the drawing. Sorry its a bit sketchy.
I made mine with very heavy gauge copper wire. I figured that if it stress fractured it would be easy to replace it. ( a sort of mechanical fuse)
Its been in use for many openings now and feels much more solid.
