flip key problem

Hello guys,
I am a new member and I have a problem with my flip key,
My car is a 1997 C200K, the red light in the key some times does not work, and of course when it does not work I can’t open the car unless I use the blade key, I also think it is using a lot of batteries, recently am changing them every 2 weeks,
I think some thing is broken inside, is it o=possible to open the flip key and repair it??
Another question , when you open the car with the blade key only the drivers door open and when you start the car all the doors open, but how do you close all the doors?

I had a 1992 with flip keys....the batteries still worked when I got rid of it in 2006.

Sinse it is faulty, not too much to lose in opening it. the welds can be cut with a sharp thin blade. something will have come lose on the pcb, or the tactile switch will need replacement. it can be welded with pipe solvent.

My experience of these was that the only moving part - the button - fails. Probably quite easy to replace if you know your way round a soldering iron.

Thanks JB, I forgot to say the the tactile switch (button) can and do go high ressistance, one well known one in the TV trade is where the set will change stations on its own, in this condition it will drain the battery.
