fob battery

hi, i have a 2017 c class coupe. justy recently i keep getting replace fob key battery. i replace it and it only lasts about 3-4 weeks and comes up again. is this a fault of the fob itself or another electrical gremlin, any advice is welcome, is this a replace fob situation at mercedes inflated prices, many thanks, john r.

Are you using 2025 or 2032 batteries, I use 2032 which seem to last a bit longer. Are you keeping the key in or near the car overnight

I've had the same buying cheapo batteries from Amazon, obviously fakes that never last long. Resorted now to avoiding all the "20 batteries for £5 deals."

Are you using 2025 or 2032 batteries, I use 2032 which seem to last a bit longer. Are you keeping the key in or near the car overnight

2025 are 2.5mm thick
2032 are 3.2mm thick

They’re not compatible as one is too thick to fit

hi dean, i,m using 2025 decent ones duracell. i keep the key upstairs in the bedroom at night in a tin , told it stops these cloning gizmos. how long should they last, thanks john.

My smart decided to do the “10 x multi-flash” on the indicators when opening last night - that’s the car telling me the CR2016 battery needs replacing.
Its because of this thread… changed it this morning, I need a rest now…

I’m guessing part of the message sent to the car is the battery voltage in the key

The car knows everything. Within half an hour of it telling me that the brake pads were getting low, I had an email from Mercedes because the card had snitched on me!

If you’re buying off eBay you get cheap nasty ones just pop into mb they ain’t that expensiv. Why do people buy Mercedes then moan about how much dearer things are, simple solution don’t buy Mercedes if you can’t afford to pay for genuine parts.

people go elsewhere not because they CAN'T afford MB prices but WON'T pay MB's inflated prices for some parts.

MB quoted me £150 to just buy brake shoes for my Smart 451 & around £100 for a pair of slave cylinders (they only sell them in pair) .... my local tame indy bought & fitted the above for £160

The fob is constantly giving out a signal, therefor running down the battery click the lock button Twice in succession this stops the signal and saves on battery, it also stops the tealeaves with scanners getting hold of your kids inheritance.

Most people know about how expensive certain cars are to maintain, that’s why I don’t own a Porche, I don’t own RR I drive what I can afford to repair if things go wrong.

yes mercedes prices questionable, paying for the name ! have always had lexus and their prices are high but reasonable, fancied a change but one and only merc.
