fob problems

having a problem with the fobs on a 202 c180, flip out key type with the reciever in the mirror. put new batteries in the fob, worked for about a week and then dead. got varta's from local dealer worked for about a week and now dead again. why is the fob draining the batteries and does this mean new fobs?
also noticed that the red led in the mirror is not functioning but the one on the door is.
