Good morning all

Still loving and enjoying the car and slowly working my way round stuff. Could anyone point me in the right direction of how to fold the rear seats? Looking at pictures there seems to have two leavers just underneath the rear window when you open the boot, howevere i dont have these, just a handle to hang some shopping bags on! I cant see nothing on the top of the seats or anywhere down the side. Its very frustrating. Im assuming that my rear seats do fold down!

I couldnt see anywhere else on here regarding this topic on the E Class. Im hoping ive just missed somthing.

Appreceiate the help as always.

Regards

Michael

I think it was actually an option in the saloon for folding seats

It was an option on the W213 (E-Saloon) - previous saloons had the fuel tank in that area so didn't have folding seats and they kind of kept that mentality

As above, its an option that really is worthwhile choosing on a new car.

but should folding rear seats really be an option? There are many options on Mercs that are standard on other makes of car

I don't know. I guess there are some owners that have no use for folding rear seats and prefer fixed rear seats.
My last car had them, and I miss them in the latest.

If you've no use for them .... just don't use them. My Senators & Omega had them as standard, and the fuel tank is not in the way I can't see any reason not to include them as standard.

^ But wouldn't that make the car a little dearer due to folding seats costing more?
Moot point I know, and I agree, they should be standard, but we all know its the options that give Mercedes more profit.
That is why less and less comes as standard and appears on the options list.

It’s actually a tricky one this. The car has to be desirable enough as “standard” to sell on its own merits. The movement of options from an options list to a trim pack to a styling pack and back again speak to the sales confidence the regional product managers have in their vehicle.

Looking at at W213 E350d and E400 advertised for sale currently 2019 and 2020, they all come with folding seats, so in these it seems they are now standard, can’t say if that is also the case for E220d, my guess would be standard now also.
