Folding mirror Question

I have a 1996 (P) C280 Elegance, and find having folding mirrors nowaday a must. Does anyone out there know if I can adapt/alter my fixed door mirrors to be either manually able to be folded in or even better, is there a conversion kit to make them electrically folding? I know this was a factory option on this model. How difficult would this be to do, if at all possible. Thanks in advance

You would need to buy folding mirrors you can't convert the standard ones.

You can have folding mirrors on your car but it's quite a labourous task. I'm doing a conversion on mine to the facelifted w210 folding mirrors with blinkers.

1. You need to get the folding mirrors set . Obvious place to look out for is ebay, breakers or even forums like these. You could go for the normal c-class mirrors or the whole hog like me to the w210 mirrors with blinkers on them.

2. You would need the folding harness plus the switch depending on the year of your car.

3. You would have to make a hole on your trim to place the switch, run the wiring harness and connect the mirrors.

You could also add auto dimming mirrors provided you have to source out the auto dimming RVM and the auto dimming drivers side mirrors plus the harness.

It all depends on your preference.
