Remember that fold on lock will eventually fatigue the wires causing them to break.

Ok LK , the previous owner said they were fine before he had the battery changed and they work perfectly off the button so pretty sure they just need setting up but this is where my squiffy LCD bites me in the arse :(

Have you reset your Exterior Mirrors since the battery change? Turn ign to pos 1 and briefly press the middle mirror button in the door cluster.

The mirrors do actually fold? I ask as I told a bloke at work where to find the auto fold menu on his ML ... it turned out that his mirrors didn't fold at all

If the 'Fold in mirrors when locking car' function has been previously set, all you should need to do is reset the mirrors after a power disconnection, as it describes in the OM.

So I better understand your predicament, how exactly are you currently folding the mirrors "Manually"?

You stated in an earlier post #5 that the previous owner stated they used to fold before the battery change, this means the setting has already been selected in your settings menu, so all you need now to do is reset the mirrors in the procedure I posted, try it, you have nothing to lose!
