Hi Folks,

I've got what I thought, was a simple problem, with my offside mirror, it wont fold in or out, the nearside mirror works just fine, my Wife has a bad habit of folding it manually, but, if I could check the fuses, I would, I just don't know where to find it, so, can you please help

Its a 57 plate Merc E280 CDI Sport

Is each mirror on a seperate fuse, if so, where is the fuse for the mirrors kept, or, could it perhaps just need a little DW40, sometimes, I can still hear the motor working, any suggestion, please

As always, any and all help is appreciated

Fred

If your wife is forcing it manually then I would assume the cog is broke. You need to take it apart, inspect and figure out what's wrong. I doubt the wing mirrors are on separate ciruits. Just press the fold button and if they both make a noise then they are on the same no?

i mioba,

Give her her due, the Wife has only been pushing the mirror since it stopped working, that's despite being told not to, but, like everyone else, I just put up with her indoors doing as she pleases, and suffer in silence

Thanks anyway

Do be CAREFUL when you strip it apart to check the cog etc. Considering how it operates so frequently down (mine are set to auto-fold when the ignition is on and a door is opened) they are remarkably fragile. One or two of our Indy's have warned how fragile the internal wiring can be...

One day my right hand mirror just popped out and was left hanging down on one wire. I bought a mirror from the Bay and took it partially apart but I didn't fancy going too far. In the process, I found that there was one broken plastic lug on the corner of the mirror back panel I and gently put it back together intending to tape it up until I could source a replacement. Amazingly, it stayed in place and has worked properly since then - probably 3 years! Fingers, knees and toes all crossed!
