Folding Wing Mirrors Again (Sorry!)

I know there are loads of threads on this subject but I don't think my query has been answered.

I have a W209 CLK Cabriolet delivered in the UK in Nov 03 and registered Jan 04 and wish to have the mirrors fold on locking. They are one touch mirrors.

I have been to an Indie in Princes Risborough who I thought had STAR but did not. :( He did have a Chinese piece of equipment which indicated that fold on locking was available but after activating it the mirrors do not fold and there is still no option in the dashboard convenience menu. :(

My questions are:

1. Can the ability to have fold on locking be identified by the VIN?

2. Apart from Hughes Mercedes are there any Indies in the Aylesbury area with STAR? The guy in Risborough who also used to be in Wendover definitely hasn't.

Thanks

From stuff I've read, I think the car is likely to be too old. I have a late 2004 (facelift) W203 and apparently it's iffy whether even that will have the right front SAM.

But with the right S-A-M to program it you will never know

Got below from w209, 2005 facelift so may be differant to yours, but thought I would post just incase.

Go to "settings"
use the +/- button to get to "convenience" its not necessarily shown in the display until you start scrolling.
you then get the "fold in Mirrors when etc" which can be set to on or off.

I don't have that. I think Star is needed to enable the function.

As i said, you first have to code the ICM to give this setting!

Unfortunately, PCS could not enable the feature. :( I think they even phoned you for advice.

'A' for effort, 'E' for results. :p

Gutted - I'll have to upgrade to a newer model!

B e like me Geezer and never stop, then you do not need folding mirror.

You could add a relay across the switch, stick a diode across the coil so that it held closed for 20 sec and wire it up to your central locking

If I was so inclined I could have made a lot of money on doing conversion boxes for some of these things, trouble is I am passed it now :(

Ouch!!

Hopefully not required.

I thought 209s had this feature. Certainly if the 203 has this (albeit 'hidden'), they share so many parts??

I would have thought that the 209 had this feature as well, as it came out some time after the 203, it must have been 2003 when it came out, if it was 2004, then it does not add up

As I mentioned earlier, it's only from late 04 onwards W203's that the existing door controllers can be enabled to have this feature.
