Many of you are well aware of my dislike of diesel (and it still stands) but today I have added another Mercedes to the fold. And it's a diseasel.

So here it is (collect next weekend).
R350 CDi L born 30/9/2011.

So why a diseasel? Basically because there are no 7 seat Petrol R classes that I could find.
At least this is the 'cleaner' one.

Not completely the spec I wanted but it's a spec that works well for us. Pano roof, rear Aircon, heated seats (including 2nd row), Command with reversing camera, parking sensors. I would have liked full air suspension but it's rear only (and has just had a compressor and 2 new rear struts but I suspect a leak as I can hear the pump running more often than I would have thought it should). I would also have preferred leather over artico and alcantara but hey ho.

It's a big old bus - in fact it's blinking huge! At least for what we want (long trips to France) it should be ideal.

Anyone able to do a VIN decode? Mine won't recognise it

Could have been worse..........you could have gone electric!
I did look into a Tesla Model S.....
Only problem is lack of load capacity for MrsLK's luggage!

Looks good certainly a worthy replacement for the S210

As regards the suspension air compressor I wouldn’t be too bothered by hearing the pump run new ones tend to be very noisy for the first 20k miles (so very noticeable until they bed in) mine was the same

welcome to the W251 and OM642 club.

A great engine performance wise, needs an eye kept on it for usual suspect leaks. My biggest tip is the orange batwing seals are service items.

I love my w251. Took me some time to iron a few things. they are huge. Three point turns become 5 point and finding a car park space is fun.

Oh and they are thirsty.

enjoy the ride

The R class is a difficult car to like looks wise, but goodness me, they make a great towcar/load carrier/family wagon/surf bus/dog taxi. Good pal of mine has one, and I like it a lot! Congratulations! Let’s see if it changes your opinions of the oil-burner ;)

Well we're hoping it will better 30mpg on the toll road runs down through France.
We'd love to see high 30s but that might be optimistic.....

We achieved 33.1 on our way back from Wiltshire the other week. That’s by far the best we have ever done.
