I am about to take in my Mercedes for a "limp repair" I think it is called, which means I do not book an appointment, I just show up and leave my vehicle and apparently they must attempt to fix it then and there if they have the time/space. My vehicle won't lock, so it's not safe for me to leave on the street and with them it's the safest option.

But, I am a little stuck. It's my only means of transport. Does anyone know if they can't offer a curtosy vehicle, has anyone heard of Mercedes paying for a basic rental car?

I know Range Rover has something like, if they can't offer a spare vehicle, they offer £50 (something like this) for you to get a rental car whilst yours is being warranty repaired.

Any input I would really appreciate it, I have a feeling the part they need could be weeks in the works, and I do know if you don't ask you don't get, but I also don't want to look like a fool :) thanks everyone, have a wonderful day!

Hello and welcome,

Under the Mobilo recovery they provided a hire car. As you can drive it to the dealers it’s a little different. I’d call the dealership and ask - service managers car is usually a nice one to have

As above, if you ask nicely you may get a courtesy car.
Some dealerships have stopped offering a courtesy car when leaving yours for a service so hopefully you'll be lucky.

And the ones that do, charge for them

For anyone that is curious of what happened in the end, I drove my car straight to the dealership after writing my post, with no appointment, as one of my doors didn't lock, they called it a limp repair. They offered me a rental car for free which was dropped off at my house the next morning and I had it for a few days whilst I waited for my car to be repaired. Way quicker than if I had booked an appointment and risked my car being broken in to with one of the doors always unlocked.
