Hi
I have a 1999 CLK 230K and both the front and rear fog lamps have stopped working.
Checked the bulbs. No power at the lamps. checked the boot cable. Checked the fuses and both are ok.
Tested that there was power to both sides of the fuses.
Any Ideas
Where do the wires go on the out side of the fuses. Is there another connector.
I am stumped she goes for MOT next week and don't kow where to look.
Any ideas please.
Thanks

Multifunction light switch not working in the 'pulled out' position?
Don't know the circuit so only a suggestion.

Thanks
I was thinking that too but wanted to know if i could pull it out ant test it . The light switch seems to be attached to the fuse box so don't fancy ripping it all out.
Wondered if there was a connection outside the light switch which i could check for voltage to prove or eliminate the switch.

You're into the realms of needing a circuit diagram/wiring diagram now I suspect. I wouldn't like to start pulling stuff apart with the battery connected, and taking the battery connections off might bring its own problems with resets/consumers going off line on start up.
I think I would bump this post with a new title to try and seek out an expert.

Would anyone have a wiring diagram. Tried the MB "WIZ" but it's very confusing.
I am told that there war a problem with the front fog light wiring loom . Perhaps i have a common earth problem?

Hi Len - I think another approach might be to put a new post up asking for a Mercedes electrical specialist in Surrey area?
Wish I could help; I'm a retired electrical engineer, but I'm very hesitant on advising on this one - unless you know the circuit in detail it will be only too easy to mess things up.
Any suggestions from the local MB dealer as to who they would go too? Any auto electrician locally who can show you a diagram for your model BEFORE they start work, so you know that they have some idea at least?

lights

Hi Len,

I had a problem with number plate lights on a 2002 C class 203. One bulb failed, I bought 2 from Halfords and fitted them, still had bulb fail message on dash. Like you, I checked for voltage at the holder, no volts present with lights switched on. It seems that if the bulb monitoring cct sees a faulty bulb, it cuts the supply to it. My problem was 1 bulb open cct, the other intermittent. 2 good bulbs cured the problem. You dont say if your bulb fail message came up, but if it didnt that might give further clues. Final observation, a bulb and a swiitch, how hard can they make it ?

I suppose that could happen with my front fogs but cannot understand the rear fog. I will give it a go and get all new bulbs, clean the connectors and try it again. If only they would make things as they use to do. The more electronics the more trouble.
