For some reason the suspension causes the car to sit higher on the drivers side than the passenger side, the difference is about a finger thickness.

Has anyone else got this or has it and fixed it. The springs are the orginals as far as I can tell. Both dampers were replaced a couple of years ago.

I doubt very much if they will still be the original springs on a 190 these springs are prone to breaking, the rear springs are just as bad, it probably had a new original or after market spring fitted at some time. I only fit Mercedes original springs to my 190D and fit them in pairs. Why do Mercedes ask for your chassis No to make sure they supply the correct springs, but after market springs are listed the same for all models apart from the2.3 & 2.6.

Hi Mike

I agree with Ian. Dampers won't make a difference in ride height if they are the same type.

The answer is most likely to involve the springs. Either they are different lengths, different rates or one could even be broken. My brother had a broken spring on his car and it was only detected when he had an MOT. Broken springs don't necessarily make a noise but they do affect handling.

Sometimes owners fit 'lowering springs' in order to lower the centre of gravity to improve handling. Do the springs look equal? You should be able to measure their length and the number and spacing of the coils.

REGARDS Phil
