Front headrest removal

Hi,
i am the pround owner of a !(88 W126 300SEL. I am trying to remove the headrests from the from seats. The headrests are the standard non-electric type. I can't see a button anywhere (unlike the rear headrests on my 220TE) so i'm wondering if they can actually be removed?

I would appreciate some advice.

I think that if you sit on the back seat and pull it up you will find a button on the back rest just above your knee, on the right? I may be wrong!
