Be careful while doing this.

Make sure the car is locked and the key in your pocket. The SBC system may activate whe doors are opened causing the pistons in the calipers to pop out a sthe SBC system tries to apply the brakes.

Cant agree with black anymore there, these things are going to have a halfords or quick fit fitters hand of one day, system really does have to be shut down, what black forgot to say if it has keyless go then even with car locked if the key is in range it can still do a system check, be careful!!!!!!!!

Malcolm did his (SL but still SBC) by doing the above and then pulling the multi plug from the SBC unit. It whinged when he restarted it but was happy enough as soon as it was running again allegedly.

yes and by pulling the plug off you can damage the interfaces, new pump needed, belive its only if the car is woken up but that dont take much!!!! dont always pay!!!

Pulling out the plug on the ABS pump is part of the MB 211 training program. the trainees are asked to ob-sever the dash going red.

I have talked many through this, if you do not want to do this then disconnect the battery or batteries dependent on the year and push the brake pedal a few times. You then have conventional brakes where the change is easy

Important Safety notice

After talking to colechelle I wish to withdraw the comment I made on pulling out the SBC plug to do the change of pads.

Though pulling out the plug is part of an MB traing program it should not be done at home.

I am the first one to normally say disconnect the battery before unplugging any ECU.

Please when changing the Pads just disconnect the battery, batteries in the case of an early 211, and all is safe

Thank you.

I changed my pads last time by unplugging the pump, i guess i will disconnect the battery in future, one question though
if you disconnet the batteries ( in my case) will this cause the radio to loose its code ? as i dont remember seeing a code anywhere in the document pack i have for the car
many thanks

No your radio is coded once from new.

We can never tell people to pull out live plugs, by taking off the batteries its dead safe and no damage
