Hi - can anyone be of assistance - i noticed yesterday that when driving (alone) in the car - there was a groaning / creaking noise from the front passenger side wheel area. Upon further investigation (kicked the tyres) and kinda "bounced" the car via the bonnet and this is where the creaky / groaning noise is coming from. Now, I've consulted my manual and I think I've narrowed it down to suspension or hub - anyone got any comments before I go to the garage - I can do quite a lot of work on my car myself but think this might just be one for the pro's! Oh, it's a 1988 190e auto. thanks all.

I had a similar sound on my 200TE.At first the top shock mounts were suspected but it turned out to be a partially siezed ball joint. It may be worth checking the top shock mounts while you are there as the rubber can perish and create the type of noise you are describing.

if it is not too late

I had a similar problem, turned out it was the stabilizer bar on the axle and torque struts had to be replaced on front axle.
